The Intensive programs at LLS are designed for you, the actor, to experience physical release, personal insight, expanded emotional range, increased self-expression, and advancement in acting technique. The Intensives will create a significant change in you, moving you forward in your understanding of acting and your ability to accomplish your vision. We will emphasize development of the physical instrument, communication, character development, risk and courage, text interpretation and the ability to include more of yourself in your overall work.

Summer 2010 Schedule

10 DAY INTENSIVE:
    August 17 - 26

                                              10:00am – 5:00pm daily
                                              $1200     plus $25 Application fee

An In-Depth Exploration of Scene and Character Study and Rehearsal, using mostly prize winning plays, chosen to expand the students acting techniques, emotional range and self-expression.  Over the course of 10 days, students will participate in several exercises, exploring concentration, relaxation, character, text, physical space, objective, stakes and living privately in public.  The students will then apply what they have learned through these exercises to scene work presented to the class for feedback.  The student will be expected to work on his/her own outside of class.  There will be no class session on Sunday, August 22 so that the students have the opportunity to rehearse scenes.

In addition, students will also receive instruction in singing, vocal production and song interpretation, and physical acting.

Preparation: Scenes will be assigned in advanced and it is asked that the entire play from which the scenes are taken be read before coming to the workshop. There will be an exercise involving a Shakespearean monologue of the student's choice.  The student is expected to have this monologue well-memorized before the intensive begins.
